The "In Crowd" seem to move round starting at Tubos, then on to Mykonos before hitting The Metropole Disco! There are Lots of Bars and Restaurants here that cater for the Gay Community, whichever your preference in music and style - the crowd is younger upstairs than in the bars downstairs, There is Even a Gay Bar for the pensioners at Na Und! At about 4 in the Morning the upstairs start to wind down, this is when the Large Disco Bars start to Rock at XL and Kings. Try grilled tuna, seafood soups, fish served with aubergine, and tasty limpets with green mojo sauce. Gran Canaria's traditional staples will
also be found here in the restaurants and cafes of Puerto Mogan. Of note is the "sancocho" - boiled, salted fish, goat meat and "ropa vieja"
a casserole of meat and chick peas. Gran Canaria Holidays Maspalomas: The beach at Maspalomas stretches for 6km, and is backed by the stunning sand dunes, which separate the resort from Playa del Ingles.
The dunes have been declared a protected wildlife sanctuary, with various rare plants, and creatures such as lizards and rabbits,
making their home in the sand and lagoon near the sea. With some of the dunes reaching almost 50 feet in height,
the area is a great spot for secluded sunbathing and is popular with nudists, accessible only by foot, or by camel.
For those seeking a more traditional place to sunbathe, the lovely sandy beach at Maspalomas has facilities such as sunbeds and umbrellas,
and was awarded the European Blue Flag award for cleanliness. The resort has a wide range of low-level accommodation complexes,
including some smart hotels, and a couple of shopping centres to provide all the holiday essentials. The atmosphere in Maspalomas is relaxed and low-key, with local bars, some with live music, and a good choice of restaurants
along the front. For those in search of wilder nightlife, Playa del Ingles is only 2km away. There are plenty of tourist attractions near
Maspalomas, including two waterparks, the Holidayworld amusement park, a Wild West theme park and a unique aboriginal theme park.
Other activities to enjoy whilst holidaying in Maspalomas are watersports, golf (the resort is home to the Island's largest golf course),
and camel rides across the sand dunes.
Gran Canaria Holidays Las Palmas: Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria and located on the north-east coast of the island,
is a busy working city sitting in between two bays with great sandy beaches. Its a great choice for a taste of city life,
whilst holidaying on the more commercial south coast of the island. Perfect for a shopping spree, the bustling streets of
Las Palmas are full of small shops and department stores, where duty free bargains in all shape and form can be discovered.
By night, Las Palmas really comes alive with a wide choice of vibrant bars, restaurants and clubs. Las Palmas has two wonderful sandy beaches on its doorstep. Playa de las Canteras, the first tourist resort on Gran Canaria,
has a stretch of golden sand and a wealth of hotels, shops, bars and restaurants. One of the main attractions here is the
Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, the cultural centre housing ten concert halls, and home to the Las Palmas Philharmonic Orchestra.
Constructed by local architects and designers from natural stone, the building is considered an important piece of modern architecture,
and a regular host for operas, concerts and international festivals. On the north side of the city is Playa de las Alcaravaneres,
the second largest beach on Gran Canaria, stretching over 1000m along the coastline. Sitting beside Las Palmas harbour,
Puerto de la Luz, Playa de las Alcaravaneres is the boating centre of Las Palmas, with the Varadero Sailing Club at one end of the beach,
and the upmarket Royal Sailing Club, home to some luxurious yachts, on the other.
